TEHRAN -- Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf said here on Tuesday that he is prepared to continue serving the city of Tehran.

“I have always been and still am prepared to serve (the people), but it is the city councilors who must make the decision,” Qalibaf told reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the third Tehran City Council.

The Tehran City Council is scheduled to hold its first session on Sunday, and its most important task after forming the committees is selecting the mayor, he said.

The term of the second Tehran City Council officially came to an end last week. This year’s parks, urban utilities, and construction projects are being implemented efficiently and promptly, and any change would only be in the management, Qalibaf said, adding, “Hence I will continue my task as long as I am in this post.”
